Bosch's Multimedia Truck Navigation can calculate routes on the basis of vehicle-specific attributes. For example, it can take into account no-drive zones and routes with restrictions on overhead clearance and maximum vehicle weight. The system can take note of specific vehicle data such as dimensions, weight, and – if applicable – hazardous goods class and incorporate these into the route planning. This allows critical turning maneuvers in front of bridges or underpasses to be avoided.
The truck-specific navigation data stored on the micro SD card also contains typical POIs for commercial vehicles such as service stations, truck stops, AdBlue filling stations, and truck repair shops. Users can customize the system by saving additional POIs as special destinations via the USB interface.
Bosch's Multimedia Truck Navigation system can also navigate dynamically by evaluating the current traffic situation on the basis of traffic data received from the Traffic Message Channel (TMC). This allows traffic problems to be detected in good time and problems such as areas of congestion to be circumnavigated in advance.
Its easy-to-read map display gives a clear picture of the road geometry and the route being followed. Clearly structured menus and audio and visual route guidance combine with a color touch-screen, easy-to-use buttons, and two push/turn control knobs to create an intuitive operating concept that is simple to use.
