With the multichannel audio system (MAS), passengers can choose from up to 8 stereo programs at their seats. A special feature of the MAS is the 3-level amplifier setting for audio inputs 2-8. With the appropriate modules, it is also possible to automatically recognize the channels used.
The MAS includes the MAS 02 head unit, the central seat module system (composed of head unit, audio seat modules, MAS distributors and MAS terminating resistors) as well as the individual seat modules. These come with channel selectors and volume controls as well as earphone jacks. Passengers can select their own programs and individually set the volume on their headsets to their liking.
All programs switch over to announcements being made over the microphone. The head unit can accommodate up to 8 AF sources, combining them into a multiplex signal that it then distributes on four trunk lines. Each of them can be connected to up to 25 seat modules. Regardless of the number of seat modules, each trunk line has to be fitted with a terminating resistor (MAS Load) to match the impedance. The MAS is equipped with 8-way DIN sockets for input and BNC sockets for output.
